When do you need to rekey your locks?
- When moving into a new home, most new homes are master keyed or construction keyed. In a nutshell, there may be other keys out there that work your locks. Also the small master pins or ball bearings used will eventually seize causing cylinder malfunction and possible lockouts.
- Moving into a resale home. You really don’t know how many keys have been cut and possibly given to friends and neighbors.
- If a key does not operate and turn the cylinder smoothly. Rekeying the lock will correct the pin depths to allow for smooth operation.
